If you are your emotions, who is the one controlling them? Who watches the arising and ceasing of these emotions?

Why Equanimity?

Equanimity comes from the Latin aequanimitas which translates as 'equal' (aequus) 'mind' (animus). Perhaps we could say 'calm', 'composed' mind. but let's stay with the direct translation, EQUAL MIND

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR MIND AS IF YOU ARE THE KEEPER OF A FLAME. TEND THE FLAME SO THAT IT DOESN'T BURN TOO HOT AND OUT OF CONTROL. PAY ATTENTION SO THAT IT DOESN'T DIE DOWN AND BE BLOWN OUT BY A GUS
